We had a wonderful day with birding guide Jodhan. He had sent us several possible places that we might go so that we could preview them early. That was very helpful. We had a list of about 10 birds that we were hoping to see and he made sure that we saw them all.Jodhan was very helpful in teaching us how to differentiate between two similar species, such as the Clarks Grebe and the Western Grebe.. His ability to hear birds and then locate them was amazing. Ending the day with flocks of parrots was really a thrill.

This is the second time I have used this guide service. My guide Bobby , was enthusiastic, passionate and most importantly , was extremely knowledgeable . Process is easy to book online, great communication , questions of me for their preparation, as well as simple payment process. It’s clear the two guides i’ve used are professionals in their craft.Will definitely use again when in the area.

I spent a fantastic half day with Emmett Iverson. We had two target species - Black Rail and Slate-throated Redstart - and Emmet tracked down both species. This was the second time I got help from California Birding Guides and both times have been great. I'm going back to California next fall and will definitely hire Emmet again if he's available.

We had the most incredible experience with our guide Jodhan in the San Diego area. We emphasized that we did not have experience with pelagic birds and were not into a day of racing around checking birds off a list, but were most interested in understanding the overall interaction of environment and bird life in the area. Jodhan was confident and informed about finding the habitats of the birds; from beach dwelling snowy plovers to Argentinian parrots. Despite our lack of emphasis on species numbers, we ended the day with 90 species!

Had a fantastic time birding and owling with Bobby for the day. He was incredibly knowledgeable, not just of birding but as a general naturalist with the plants and other fauna, and biology of the area. Bobby was also very communicative and flexible with the itinerary to best suit our timing and needs, and overall was just a great hang for the day. I highly recommend going birding with him at California Bird Guides!

So excited Otto will be leading tours in California! He was my guide in Southern Spain and Portugal. He’s so incredibly knowledgeable about birds all over the world! He took me to some of the most obscure locations and got us a lot of rare and hard to find species. He’s super charming and fun to be around to boot.

I have gone birding with Jodhan Fine several times and each time I saw so many interesting and beautiful birds. He is delightful to spend time with. His passion for the birds is contagious. He’s as strong as an ox, and he carries around an enormous amount of equipment effortlessly. This really pays off as he’ll have a number of ways to visualize the birds from great distances or in shade. His knowledge of birds is very impressive, but he also knows quite a bit about other animals, insects, flowers and trees. He will have you learning more than you expected. I look forward to another birding session with Jodhan.

Bobby is an excellent guide. He’s knowledgeable and enthusiastic, ensuring you find your target birds and have a great time too.

Bobby is the definition of a “bird nerd” in the best ways possible. His mind is like an encyclopedia of bird knowledge, and he is relentless in his pursuit to see birds all across the world. That being said, he still values and loves the amazing birds California has to offer and I’ve been fortunate enough to accompany him in many successful birding adventures.

Otto is one of the best birders I’ve met and has gotten me many lifers. Great guy.

Jodhan is a greater birder and awesome guy. He is very informed on the patterns and habits of birds and the natural world at large. He knows California and the US well for birding and guiding trips. He is fun to be around and makes any birding trip worth while!

Bobby can ID any bird I have asked about and is very charismatic. Would highly recommend him as a guide.

We had Bobby as a guide on many of our outings, he is very knowledgeable about species both in appearance and calls, and on top of being knowledgeable is a great personality to be around!

Bobby was very knowledgeable and patient! I have a hard time spotting birds from a distance, and he took his time making sure I got a good look at everything. He shared a lot of knowledge about the habitat throughout the tour as well, you can tell this guy knows his stuff!!
